What is the meaning behind Red Ribbon week?

Samantha Huang, Danelle Lee, and Lukia Cassidy

Red ribbon week is all about honoring a healthy life, a drug free lifestyle, and letting you live a happy and healthy life. You can celebrate by decorating your doors, expressing your creativity, and wearing red ribbons to honor  DEA Agent Enrique Camarena who tried to make our schools drug free but was shot and killed because someone found out what he was trying to do. According to DEA.gov, they state that it is an annual catalyst to show intolerance for drugs in our schools, workplaces, and communities. According to Red Ribbon Week, people during red ribbon week wear red hats, red socks, and their favorite sports team jerseys.

Thanks to that DEA agent our schools are more informed and safe. Click here for a quiz on the article!
