Boys Planet 999, a K-Pop survival show, is rapidly becoming one of the most popular topics in the K-Pop community. A K-Pop idol audition show is where people who aspire to be a K-Pop idol go on to compete against other contestants to win a chance to debut. 52 contestants are competing in this show. Originally, 99 contestants were participating but it was reduced to 52 due to the first elimination. Many aspiring idols, have already been a huge success although there has only been a few episodes released as of when this article was published.

Fans vote for their favorite K-Pop idol contestant and the voting reflects the final lineup for a K-pop group, which in this case, is a temporary group with 9 people that will last for about 2 years.
Community Favorite Trainees
Several contestants are already becoming a huge hit in the K-pop community. One that brought a huge uproar was contestant Hoetaek Lee. Most fans know him as Hui from the pretty well known K-Pop group Pentagon. Pentagon debuted in 2016 and Hui was their main vocalist and leader. He produced several songs for several different artists, and is known for his great vocals. Many fans wondered why he would join this show when his current group is doing pretty fine. A speculation that the community had was that Cube Entertainment, the company that Hoetaek is under, sent him there to promote his group. His group is doing fine but doesn’t have a lot of popularity outside of Korea. This is only a speculation and nothing is confirmed.
Another trainee which gathered attention to the global fans was contestant Jay. He also had previous fans but not because he already debuted. He participated and held events, such as working at cafes and serving his fans, with another trainee that he worked with named Beomhan. Videos of people visiting these events went viral on social media so many fans knew him already and started rooting for him on this show.
Contestant Haruto has gained great popularity with the global fans. Many fans love his great humor and dance. He previously had an Instagram account and people saw posts from him and praised his funny videos.
The most popular contestant as of now, according to the latest contestant ranking, is Hanbin Sung as he is first out of the 52 trainees. He’s very likable and friendly to everybody, he’s attractive and handsome, he’s a great singer and dancer, and is overall a perfect candidate for a K-Pop group. After Hanbin Sung, Mathew Seok is probably also the most popular contestant, as his current rank is second. Mathew and Hanbin were close friends before the show so many people are rooting for both of them to debut in the final lineup.
