Mental health is an important topic, we’ve all heard of it. It’s like physical health but with our minds. Mental health is affected by our daily lives, our choices and decisions within the day, and how we act. Take this example: Timmy was being teased at school. Slowly the teasing turned into bullying. Now think about Timmy, what do you think is happening to Timmy’s mental health? Is his state of mental health ok? NO! Timmy’s mental stability is now damaged severely. If this continues, the balance of Timmy’s mental health is going to fall apart. After a few weeks on an unfortunate day Timmy jumps off the ceiling of his school which ends his life. Sometimes the mental health of someone is going to affect the way they act. Let’s see some other examples of mental health.
Interview with Anonymous people:
Q: What is your experience with mental health?
A: I personally do not have any extreme mental health experiences, but I do know someone whose mental health has been affected negatively. Similar to the example mentioned in the first paragraph, the person I knew was teased/bullied a lot. They used to be a very energetic and happy person, but after the bullying, they lost all of that energy and happiness.
A: Sometimes a joke, sometimes a serious thing, this is pretty scary and funny at the same time. However, I do think that it needs to be considered very seriously, and needs to be learned about more. So, I thank the current 7th grade Health classes.
A: I have never had any problems with my mental health, however, my friend was once sent to what we refer to as “the funny place” AKA asylum, and it needs to be treated seriously.
A: Personally, I feel that your mental health is greatly important towards your overall health. In my own experience, I have dealt with difficult times in my life. I know that having challenges is normal and essential for growth but when you go through conflicts, it is hard finding a solution. However, there is always hope in the end and you need to persevere through these hard times.
A: In my personal experiences I find myself having a hard time containing my emotions. It starts off with a sudden cold strike down my back when my mental health is targeted. After that I really feel numb and tears start bursting out of my eyes like waterfalls. Usually the moment lasts for 15 minutes. But my entire happiness is affected for the rest of the day. I would have trouble interacting with people and am incapable of being happy.
As we can see from these experiences Mental health is affected deeply within these people's lives. I hope that one day this topic will become universal and is dealt with. Thanks for reading!
