 🔱 GREEK Mythology 🔱

You’ve probably heard of the gods of Greek mythology, right? Like Poseidon, god of the sea, Zeus, god of the sky, Hades, the god of the Underworld and death. Ring any bells? Well, this article is all about the HISTORY and family tree of Greek Mythology. This is only focusing on the 3 brothers and their history. Don’t know who they are? They are the 3 main gods I mentioned earlier. Poseidon, Zeus, and Hades. Yep, they’re brothers! Who’s their father though?

The history of the 3 brothers is very interesting, and action-packed! Let’s start from the beginning, shall we? The father of ALL gods and entities in Greek Mythology is actually Chaos, the void. Then come the 5 main PRIMORDIAL gods. Gaia, Tartarus, Eros, Erebus, and Nyx. But more into that later.

All you need to know is that all those 5 gods had affairs and then were born the 12 Titans and entities (or monsters) of the world, which then brought the Olympians. You know. Hades, Zeus, Poseidon, Hera, Dionysus, Demeter, Athena, Ares, Apollo, so on. The 3 brothers were parented by Kronos, nicknamed the “god of the universe” and Rhea. So as the Mythology said, Kronos learned from Gaia and Uranus (Ouranos) that he was destined to be overcome by his own children, just as he had overthrown his father. As a result, although he sired the gods Demeter, Hestia, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon, Zeus, by Rhea, he devoured them all (except Zeus) as soon as they were born to prevent the prophecy. The Olympians doomed Kronos and the other Titans to Tartarus, the darkest pit of Hades. Though Kronos was immortal and could not be killed, Zeus would chop him up and throw him into Tartarus. Kronos would eventually be released by Zeus after many thousands of years. How did he defeat Kronos though? When he reached his father's home, Zeus disguised himself as a servant and slipped a drop of poison into Kronos’s drink. The moment that Kronos took a sip, the poison flowed through his body and left him confused and groggy. Before he had time to recover, Zeus had left with his siblings. I know I’m ZOOMING through all this without explaining that Cronus ATE HIS CHILDREN… OR THAT HE WAS CHOPPED INTO PIECES… But if you look at it from the immortal Titans and gods perspective, it’s not all gross. They just regenerate, even if it could take 1,000 years, like Cronus. I know. Still disgusting. Moving on!!

You may get tired of me blabbering, but one more thing before you swipe out. Or leave. Whatever, anyways, did you know that the giants Gaea and Ouranos also gave birth to the 12 giants, each one destined to destroy an Olympian. Polyphemus for Poseidon, Alcyoneus for Hades, and Porphyion for Zeus. Each giant is the opposite of that god’s main power, if you get it. How do I know all this? It may be because I love reading about mythology, Greek, Egyptian, Roman, Norse, you name it. So if you ever need any mythology facts, feel free to come to me!!
