Show Summary:
High School Musical Jr. is a stage adaptation of the Disney movie High School Musical about the students of East High. The main characters are basketball star Troy Bolton and brainy newcomer Gabriella Montez. The show follows them as they navigate issues of love, friendship, and family while dealing with social cliques and their desire to break out of their assigned roles. It explores themes of self-discovery, friendship, and unity as Troy and Gabriella challenge the status quo by auditioning for the school's musical. This causes a stir among the established cliques at East High, such as the "Jocks," "Brainiacs," and "Thespians.”
