Students have been seeking opportunities to earn service hours.

Whether you’re in National Junior Honors Society and need to get those 40 hours in; or you're just looking to help out your school/neighborhood, this article can help you find opportunities to give back.

  1. Arts

Band, Chorus, Dance, and Art all have a huge impact on our school lives. For inside service hours (and in some instances, outside service hours) you can help out by sorting supplies or moving items around. Make sure to ask your teacher!

  1. Main Office

On some days, the main office may need some help, and it’s a great way to get a lot of service hours. You can expect to help sort the attendance or organize files. It all depends on what needs to be done on that day. These typically count as inside service hours.

  1. Helping Teachers At Lunch Or In The Mornings

There are many teachers who might need some help sorting items before school starts, so make sure to ask them! For NJHS members, poop remember that Mrs. O’Brien and Mrs. Campbell both have service hour opportunities in the morning, but you have to let them know beforehand! These usually count as inside service hours.

  1. Clubs

Sometimes clubs might need help advertising events or organizing. This is a great way to get inside out outside service hours. Some notable groups to ask are Theater Club, Civics Club, or any other organization in the school.

  1. Pack and load bagged groceries. Distribute farm fresh grocery boxes.

These count as outside service hours, and in the link above, it shows the dates they are on (ranges from November through December).

  1. Help at animal shelters!

Things you would do at an animal shelter include hanging out with dogs and cats, clean bowls and litters, and maybe even restock pet food. It’s a great way to get a lot of outside service hours!

  1. Go to your old elementary school!

By going to your old elementary school, you can help with a fundraiser, event, and more! This counts as outside service hours.

There are various ways to earn community service hours. You can help more than just your neighbors; you help yourself as well. So, make sure to research more about events happening in your area, and be sure to tell your friends about them!
