Teacher Interviews!

We spend all day around and with our teachers. But how much do we really know about them? For example how long have they been teaching or how long have they been at Marie Curie? Today we interviewed Mrs. Campbell (7th grade math) and Mr. Quinn (7th & 8th grade social studies). And here were their answers:

Questions:

-How long have you been teaching?

-How long have you been teaching in this school?

-What advice would you give to your students to get good grades in your class?

-What do you like most about teaching?

-What's one message you want to give out to your students that doesn't involve grades? It can be life advice or anything encouraging?

Mr. Quinn told us that he has been teaching for a total of 9 years. Specifically, he has been teaching at Marie Curie for 6 years. When we asked him what advice he would give to his students to get good grades in his class he said “the more time and effort you put into your work the better the results will be. Also it's important to ask for help when you need it.” Mr. Quinn also said that his favorite part about teaching is he enjoys working with students and getting to know them. It is also great when you help someone who is struggling with the subject. Finally, he said that one message that he would like to give out to his students that does not involve grades is “Don't be afraid to ask for help or to offer it to others.”

We also interviewed Mrs. Campbell, 7th grade Math teacher who has been teaching for a total of 14 years. Mrs. Campbell has been a Math teacher in MS 158 for 11 years. As per advice for students, she says “No matter how many mistakes you make, or how slow you progress,- you are still ahead of everyone who isn't trying. So get involved in class, figure out where you need help and ask for it. Try your best.” When we asked what she likes most about teaching she said watching her students learn math and tackle difficult problems that are no longer difficult because they learned how to do them. Finally, one message she has to give out that is not educational is “Don’t change so people will like you. Be yourself and the right people will love the real you.”

In conclusion, we really don’t know a lot about our teachers even though we spend all day with them. In fact, one thing both these two teachers said was to try hard and you will achieve great things. Hopefully this message will inspire many of you to try harder in school and out of school.
