What Generation were you born?

Did you know that Gen X is regarded as the coolest generation because they got to witness the world change from black and white to color? Well there are many generations, not just Gen X. Everyone is  one generation based on the year you were born. After you finish this article you will know what generation you are and all about it!


The Lost Generation

The Lost Generation are people born from 1883- 1910. This generation is called the Lost generation because they are known to act aimlessly and recklessly. The term “Lost Generation” describes the people who reach adulthood in World War l. Unfortunately, no one in the Lost Generation is alive today. The lost Generation ended in around 1950-1960.



The Greatest Generation

The Greatest Generation are people who were born from 1901-1923. Members of the greatest generation lived through the great depression and many of them fought in World War ll. These individuals are often thought to be patriotic, driven, and team players. Of the 16 million Greatest generation Americans that fought in World War ll, fewer than 100,00 are still with us to this day. Most of this generation gave birth to the baby boomer generation.



The Silent Generation

The Silent generation are people who were born from 1928-1945. They got their name from remaining silent to not cause trouble. They lived in a period of wars and the Great Depression. Right now about 19 million people from the silent generation are still alive. The amount of people born in this generation was the smallest amount out of all the generation

The Baby Boomer generation is the most misunderstood generation. Many people make jokes saying “Ok boomer!” This “joke” refers to an older person that doesn't understand the modern world and how it works. This generation was there to see many advances in technology in the last 50 years. Currently this generation’s ages are between the ages 58 and 76. There are about 76.4 million Baby Boomers left in the U.S today!

Generation X are people who are born in between the years 1965-1980. The age range is 44-59. There is a stereotype about Generation X in which they criticize them by calling them slackers, cynical, and disaffected. Generation X is known as “the middle child.” Generation Xers were the first to grow up with personal computers. There were 65.2 Generation Xers in the United States by 2019.



Generation Z

Generation Z are people who are born between 1997-2012. Generation Z is expected to be the longest living group, living up to 100 years. The ages of Generation Z are 11-26. Gen Z is known for their rapid digital changes. Generation Z is informally known as Zoomers.

Generation Alpha are people born from the early 2010-2025. Generation Alpha is the first generation to experience remote learning and portable digital devices from childhood. There are about 2.8 million Generation Alpha on Earth, which is 13% of the world’s population. 

Generation Beta are people born between 2025-2039. By 2035 they will be 16% of the population, but there are no current people that are Generation Beta. After Generation Beta come Generation Gamma and Generation Delta, which won’t be until the 21st century.
