On the 25th of November, very heartbreaking and unexpected news was delivered by BlockBerry Creative, the company that manages the KPOP group LOONA. The most popular member of LOONA, Chuu, was removed from LOONA for the reason that she verbally abused the BlockBerry Creative staff. This was very surprising to fans of LOONA as she is not a person that would verbally abuse anyone and there were many times Chuu was seen being very respectful and kind to the British Broadcasting Company staff.
As news of Chuu’s removal spread, people started defending her. A person on Twitter claiming to be a British Broadcasting Company employee, exposed the company of all of their abusive behavior towards the members of LOONA and the other idols/trainees under British Broadcasting Company. Some things that the person said is, "...the company has forced the girls to perform throughout illness, to the point of constant vomiting"
"Abuse? ******** Remember when the male staff would go to work at night drunk? When he lashed and screamed at the young trainees. When the company's finances failed, when they blamed the artists to their faces. Sick. YOU ARE THE ABUSE."
“Racism in the company is serious"
On November 28 many events regarding this situation happened. Chuu spoke up about this situation on her personal instagram. The translated version of what she said is,
“Hello, this is Chuu. Thank you so much for your concern and comfort. As I have not received any contact regarding this series of situations or know anything about them, I’m currently grasping the situation, but what I’m sure of is that I haven’t done anything that would be shameful to my fans. In the future, as my position is decided, I will share another statement. Thank you so much for your concern and for trusting in me.”
Besides that, 9 members of LOONA: HeeJin, HaSeul, YeoJin, Kim Lip, JinSoul, Choerry, Yves, Go Won, and Olivia Hye are working to suspend their contracts with British Broadcasting Company. This was not surprising as it has been revealed that the money that LOONA’s members make was all sent to British Broadcasting Company, not LOONA, the people making the money.
This whole situation has made me feel very bad for the LOONA members as their company has been exposed several times of abuse and mistreatment. I really hope everything works out for them and they can succeed with their career under a company that truly cares about their kpop idols.
