Rating TWICE’s Album: More and More

*Welcome to another TWICE review by Sarah Sachdeva and Sarah Yu! We have attached full access to their album (featured on YouTube) in a seven song playlist (customizable on the video sidebar). Feel free to listen along while you read these reviews and make your own judgment on their songs!

8/10 More and More: This song was TWICE’s first main comeback in 2020, and is the title track of the album. They decided to explore a more western side in the song. Co-written by Zara Larrson, it describes how you want love more and more. The song starts off with Nayeon and Mina’s sweet voice that hooks you immediately. There is also an upbeat rap bridge that is the star of the song. There is also an instrumental/dance break when we get to see Momo dance. This song’s chorus might get a little more repetitive with the lyrics “more and more.”

9/10 Oxygen: “Oxygen” refers to how you only want your lover by your side and you feel like you are breathing their presence in. The song starts with Mina singing in a gentle voice that draws you in. Momo sings in the bridge part, which she has never done before. “Oxygen” has a really catchy beat that makes you want to dance along.

10/10 Firework: “Firework” is one of my favorite TWICE songs. It has a Latino vibe with Momo and Chaeyoung starting with “uh oh yeah” and “oh nanana oh nanana.” Jeongyeon sings the chorus, which is so beautiful. She brings her bold voice along with Nayeon and Jihyo. In addition, Mina’s sweet voice makes the song beautiful. Chaeyoung’s rap is so good with the line “like a supernova.” There is nothing bad about this song because it gives everything.

8/10 Make Me Go: TWICE has never done this type of song before and explores their dark side. I haven’t come back to this song much because it doesn't have a catchy part in the song. I do like the part where Chaeyoung raps and Mina contributes her beautiful low voice. The high notes were also amazing and balanced out the low notes.

8/10 Shadow: The song has a very gentle, rocking beat that is addictive to listen to. The lyrics mention someone dancing until she is exhausted, but never revealing her true feelings to anyone. She asks her shadow to help her become more free and become more like herself. An example of the lyrics in the song are, “shadow, shadow that’s dancing alone (La, la, ooh) Please make me more like myself, like myself.” Tzuyu in the beginning of the song is our favorite part because we get to hear her deeper voice without her straining it. This song is a little more on the sad side which makes it less memorable but in this song, each member gets to shine.

8/10 Don’t Call Me Again: “Don’t Call Me Again” talks about someone rejecting their ex and telling them not to call her again because they are already over. The repetition of “don’t call me again” in the chorus makes it even more powerful and gets the general message of the song across. The lyrics tell the ex to just fade away and never try to talk to her again because she doesn’t care about him anymore, even if she used to.

10/10 Sweet Summer Day: This song is so cute which again is done best by TWICE. In this song we get to hear Nayeon and Momo rap, which is so cute. The song describes a sweet summer day at the beach where nothing bothers you. It tells you to follow your heart and that you can do anything you want. The beat is honestly the best because it adds to the sweet feeling.

This might not be TWICE’s best album, yet it is amazing. TWICE tried a new genre and nailed it. TWICE NEVER MISSES!
