NO TWICE NO LIFE :]

Updated: Jan 28, 2022

S & S:

Rating Formula of Love: O+T=<3

Formula of Love is the highest rated K-pop album ever. As a long time fan, I have decided to review this album. Feel free to try their album!

Preview: “The Feels” is TWICE’s first English single and “Scientist” is another fan favorite of the album. They both have music videos and dance practices that you can find online.

Tracklist:

1. SCIENTIST: 7/10

This is such a unique title track that is very different from their usual style. The track was co-written by the famous and legendary pop star: Anne-Marie. The lyrics sweetly describe that love isn’t a formula and that it shouldn’t be such a complicated subject to talk about. Everyone’s talents are fully displayed. It was a little underwhelming for some people after the release of “The Feels” as it had no “it factor.” Overly a good song.

2. MOONLIGHT: 10/10

This was such a trip under the moonlight. It was produced by the Stereotypes, who have experience in the pop genre, that resembles such a soul-pop classic. (They have experience with other K-pop groups too, such as Red Velvet who sang “Bad Boy”. ) TWICE’s vocals bring such an elegant song that was made for dancing. Overall, such a magical song.

3. ICON: 8/10

TWICE are more open about their feelings in “ICON” as they shoo off their haters in a powering song. The repetition of the line “I got it I’m iconic” may be a little too much but Momo makes it work. Fully in english, TWICE has impressed their lovely fans again.

4. CRUEL: 8/10

The lyrics written by Dahyun, show a great example of a broken/toxic relationship and how the victim feels. It has such a bop that will make you want to start dancing. It has an instrumental break that really adds the “it” factor to the song. Dahyun has also written masterpieces like SOS that will bring you into a trance.

5. REAL YOU: 10/10

Real You is a song that really defines TWICE. Going back to the past, TWICE does the genre they do best, cute pop style. Real You, written by Jihyo, describes someone wanting to see their partner’s real side and how they truly feel. The short rap that was done by Chaeyoung truly gives us “the feels”. The alternating lines by Momo and Tzuyu are so beautiful. Nayeon and Sana’s chorus bring the “cute factor.” Mina and Dahyun bring the classy and soft vibe to the song. Finally, Jihyo and Jeongyeon’s high notes never disappoint. I truly love Jihyo’s songs and they always end up the best.

6. F.I.L.A (Fall In Love Again): 9/10

F.I.L.A is a great example of disco pop just like Real You and Espresso. The song, written by Nayeon, is about that feeling of falling in love again. The line “but rewind playback, now you got me in a trance” is just one great example of the beautiful chorus. Jihyo’s high note in the song simply screams “power”.

7. LAST WALTZ: 8/10

Last Waltz is such a dark song that has empowering vocals and deep notes. One of the most popular b-sides (a track not promoted), describes a relationship in a unique way by saying “I'm spinning circularly in the middle of the world. Even if the moonlight shines on us, It will be the happiest and most beautiful.” (Translated).

8. ESPRESSO: 8/10

Espresso is truly a unique song. It describes love in the way of coffee. It is similar to their previous song “SHOT CLOCK” from Eyes Wide Open. With empowering and strong vocals, TWICE beautifully delivers a song that will really get you off your feet. Nayeon’s high note truly finishes and makes the song top tier. The 3 mix owned this song (the 3 mix are the main vocalists Nayeon, Jihyo and Jeongyeon.) It was performed at their concert with a dance accompanying it, which shows that this song is truly the best. An iconic line from this song is, “E-S-P-R-E-S-S-O THAT'S WHO I AM!!” Twice has come a long way from singing “SHY SHY SHY.”

9. 알고 싶지 않아 (REWIND): 9/10

Rewind is truly a masterpiece of a song. It is a slow ballad and we get to hear all the members show their talents of singing this type of song. The song describes someone who remembers their past relationship: how they miss it and wonder what the other person is doing. Momo’s voice here is truly unique and brings a great factor to the song. Totally worth a listen if you feel down.

10. 선인장 (CACTUS): 8/10

Cactus was written by Jihyo, the leader of TWICE. The lyrics of this song have an undercurrent of sadness, but they are simultaneously empowering, and the general feeling of Cactus can be related to in many ways. The lyrics were about a dying cactus and what it might have been feeling if it could feel emotions. When you may be going through a hard situation, listening to Cactus can help you feel a little better.

11. PUSH & PULL: 8/10

Push and Pull is performed by Jihyo, Sana, and Dahyun. It describes a relationship that is off in many ways. “Remember, I'm the main character. Don't ever think that you can will. If you look at me easily, you'll be the only one who's hurt. Ah-hoo! Yeah, it's all right (translated)” is just one example of the great lyrics. It includes stunning vocals from one of TWICE’s lead vocalists, Jihyo. Sana brings the cute factor into the song while Dahyun brings her soft and calming voice. We also get to hear Jihyo rap which fully proves she is an all rounder who can rap, sing, dance, and more. Sana also brings her raps along with Dahyun. The song is also an example of how TWICE always knows exactly how to hit the spot.

12. HELLO: 6/10

Hello is a rap based song that gives empowerment. Performed by Momo, Chaeyeong, and Nayeon, we get to see each of them rap and sing. The lyrics are a little corny though. They sound like “So good ig yeah im litty.” The song does showcase Nayeon’s rapping and Chaeyoung’s sweet voice which we don’t often hear much of. Overall it is a mid-level song from TWICE.

13. 1, 3, 2: 10/10

1, 3, 2 was a song that was performed by Jeongyeon, Mina, and Tzuyu, 3 of the members of TWICE. The lyrics of 1, 3, 2 have a Latin vibe, and it features great vocals from a subset of TWICE. Since only 3 of the girls performed this song, it showcases their individual talents. Mina and Jeongyeon are the rappers and the lyrics of the song have an elegant feel.

14. CANDY: 8/10

Candy is such a sweet song just like candy :] TWICE performed this song at their celebration for their 6th anniversary. It is fully english and is worth a listen.

15. The Feels : 9/10

The Feels was a song written about a girl’s curiosity about another boy, and whether or not he had feelings for her. It is one of Twice’s songs that are fully in English, and it quickly became very popular. The introduction of the song is catchy, and draws listeners in. As the song continues, the girl declares her feelings for the boy, and speaks about how she thinks he has feelings for her too. Nayeon’s high note amazes anyone who listens to it. It comes to a powerful conclusion that echoes in your mind even after it is finished.

16.

SCIENTIST (R3HAB Remix): 8/10

This is truly one of the best remixes of a k-pop song. R3HAB brings fast beats and tunes that make the song enjoyable.

All in all, TWICE has proved they can make any type of music with perfection. They live up to the title “Nation’s girl group!”
