Lunar New Year is almost here, and we’re ready to celebrate! Lunar New Year, one of the most important and widely celebrated holidays in many Asian cultures, marks the first new moon of the lunar calendar. It’s a time for renewal, family reunions, and honoring our ancestors. This year, the holiday falls on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, and signifies the beginning of a new cycle of luck, prosperity, and growth.
Every Lunar New Year the Asian community embraces the belief that a person's horoscope, personality, and love compatibility are closely associated with his/her Chinese zodiac sign, determined by his/her birth year.

In celebration of this joyful occasion, Marie Curie Middle School 158Q, Beacon, with the PTA and AACE are hosting a Lunar New Year Festival that you won’t want to miss! Join us on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM for an afternoon of fun.
This lively event will feature a variety of activities for all ages. Enjoy delicious traditional foods, where you can taste a bit of Lunar New Year’s rich culinary traditions. Dive into arts & crafts, where you can create beautiful, meaningful souvenirs, and get a glimpse of the intricate craftsmanship that symbolizes good fortune for the year ahead.
One of the highlights of the festival will be the lion dance, an amazing performance executed by multiple performers wearing a lion costume. It’s believed to bring good luck and drive away negative energy. The dancers will bring the lion to life with graceful movements and vibrant colors, accompanied by the rhythmic beat of drums.
The event will also showcase performances by our talented students including a chorus performance of the traditional song Gong Xi Gong Xi, meaning “Congratulations.” The chorus will share this cheerful and heartfelt tune to wish everyone prosperity and joy in the new year.
Additionally, a live band will perform a selection of traditional music using authentic instruments, creating an atmosphere of celebration and harmony.
Whether you're here to enjoy the performances, indulge in the food, or take part in the fun crafts, this festival promises to be an unforgettable experience for the whole family. It’s a wonderful way to connect with your community, learn about Lunar New Year traditions, and create lasting memories with friends and loved ones.
