If you have been keeping up with our school you know about our school’s girls volleyball team. But how much do you really know (hopefully you are not discouraged by the girls record)? In this article, volleyball player Cynthia Ng will share an insider's look.
Interview:
Question: What is one reason you wanted to join the team?
Response: I wanted to join because I wanted a new hobby and volleyball seemed really fun.
Question: How did you feel when you got in?
Response: I was really surprised and in disbelief since I had no prior training.
Question: What do you guys usually do during practice?
Response: It changes and mainly depends on how we did on our games. We usually practice the things we had difficulties on during the games. We typically practice setting, spiking, passing, communicating, etc.
Question: How do you balance your school, personal, and volleyball life?
Response: It actually wasn't as difficult as I expected it to be. I usually use my time wisely so I can make sure to do everything.
Question: Do you have any words of advice for future students who want to join the volleyball team in the future?
Response: If you want to try out just do it, don't be scared. There will be a lot of people and you may feel intimidated but if you try your best your efforts will show.
Question: What days do you guys meet and who are your coaches?
Response: Our practices depend on when we have our games but if there are no games then they are usually on Thursdays from 2:30pm-4:00pm. Our coaches are Mr. Young and Mrs. May.
Question: How do you feel about the community?
Response: I look forward to practicing because the community is very supportive and friendly.
Question: How do you feel before, during, and after you play in a game?
Response: Before I play I am nervous about how I will do. While I play I am stressed because of all the pressure but I'm comforted knowing my friends are there supporting me. How I am after the game depends on the outcome. If we lose then I'm sad but I know we are able to learn from our mistakes. If we win I am super happy and proud.
