Is graduating from college still worth all of the work?

T here has been a growing question among Gen Zers “Is going to and graduating from college still worth all the trouble?” Older generations say getting your college degree is still very important, but younger generations claim it's not because most of the jobs are taken by Artificial Intelligence. A growing number of jobs you would go to college for, like graphic designers and legal assistants, are slowly being replaced by Artificial Intelligence. We need to think about our future when making decisions like going to college.

Cost of living

Prior to getting into college, you have to pay for prep courses and pay for taking the exam. Then, for every application, there is a cost to send in a process. The application process can be very stressful. In addition to the stress, to go to college you have to pay massive amounts of money and tuition fees increase yearly. Additionally inflation is making them higher. It gets worse with student loans. Student loans are a massive $36,710, and with AI taking the job you studied, your degree is basically useless and you don't have a high paying job either to pay it off.

Better job opportunities

Instead of going to college, go to trade school. There you learn how to build, install, repair, and maintain machinery, infrastructure and the systems society relies on every day. The pay is good, which is between $50,000 and $95,000 dollars per year depending on the job, you can even get paid more for certain jobs like elevator installation. Trade jobs cannot be replaced by artificial intelligence. Do some research on the different types of trade jobs and you will quickly find out maybe college is not worth all the time.

Final thoughts

With the newer economic rise of AI,  I wouldn't recommend going to college and instead save the massive investment for something else like trade school, stocks,  or  AI programming since it's becoming so big now.
