How To Feel Better About Spending Valentines Day Alone

It’s the month of February and everywhere you go you’re reminded of your lack of a romantic partner. Felt that before? Because I most definitely have. I, like many others, do not have a romantic partner to celebrate Valentine’s Day with, so here are some tips on how to feel better about spending that day alone!
Take Care of Yourself
Nobody made a rule where only your boyfriend can buy you chocolate on Valentine's Day! Hit up the candy aisle at CVS or anywhere that sells chocolate and buy yourself some chocolate. Buy yourself gifts and do what you enjoy. Even though this might sound sad, you’re saving money by doing this because you’re spending the money that you would have spent on your significant other on yourself! Dates are not cheap these days so doing this would help you save money and make you feel better. It could also get you distracted from the loneliness you might be experiencing.
Hang Out With Your Friends
I’m sure you’re not the only single person in your friend group! Meet up with your friends (and don’t include the taken ones they don’t deserve it) and have fun. This could further distract you from the loneliness because you would be with your friends instead of being alone. Get the heart shaped cakes and fun Valentines candy and take your pictures for instagram! I’m sure no boy our age cares enough for cute Pinterest pictures so hit up your friends and hang out with them!
Don’t obsess over not having a significant other.
If all you’re doing on Valentine’s Day is crying over being single, get up and stop crying! You’re still in middle school and you have so many years ahead of you where you can celebrate Valentine’s Day with a partner. You might feel single and sad now but in the future you’ll look back to your middle school years and realize how silly it was to worry about having a significant other so early. Don’t stress too much about dating because it really isn’t important in these years! As an 8th grader, trust me you don’t need to start dating so early and Valentine’s Day is simply an unserious holiday.
To sum it up, these were three tips on how to feel better about celebrating Valentine’s Day alone. As I said in the last tip, don’t worry too much about dating now because we’re honestly still young and have so many years ahead of us. This whole article might just be me gaslighting myself into thinking I’m not single and sad but I hope it helped you feel better about being single!
