Black Cat Pumpkins: Credit- 100+ DIY Halloween
You Will Need:
Faux pumpkins of various sizes and shapes
-Hot glue gun and glue sticks
-Black exterior paint
-2" foam paint brush
-Scissors
-Black craft foam
-Medium-tipped white paint marker
-White craft paint
-Small craft paintbrush
-Gray and light brown pipe cleaners
-Felt (light gray, light brown or red)
-Black marker
1. Cover the pumpkin with 3 layers of black paint. Make sure you let the paint dry between each layer.
2. Next we are going to create the ears and eyes. Use your scissors to cut out 2 arrow shapes out of the black foam. Then, using a kitchen knife, cut out 2 small slits in the pumpkin to fit the ears. Use a hot glue gun to glue the ears on.
Then to make the eyes, use a white paint pen to draw angled eyes on the pumpkin. Fill them in using a white paint pen, or a small paint brush using white paint.
3. Lastly, we're going to make the nose and whiskers. To create the nose use a black marker to outline the shape on the felt, then cut along the lines. Apply some glue on the nose and put it slightly under the eyes.
To make the whiskers cut 3 pipe cleaners in half and use hot glue to attach them next to the nose. Store them somewhere cool to let the glue dry.
Spiders In Lamp: Credit- 100+ DIY Halloween Decorations
You Will Need
-Drum lampshade
-1/4" black whiteboard tape
-Craft knife
-Plastic spiders
-Double-sided tape
To begin the web use thin strips of whiteboard tape to make lines that go across inside the lampshade. 3-4 lines would work the best and should all intersect at some point.
To continue forming the web, make small connections from one frame to another. This will start to form the web shape. Use a craft cutter to carefully make any necessary cuts. You can use your fingers to guide the tape, making subtle curves.
Finally you are going to finish the web. Continue making lines until you reach your desired shape and pattern.
Lastly, add the spiders to your lamp. Add some double sided tape to the back of each spider.
Black Cat Pot: Credit- 100+ DIY Halloween Decor
You Will Need:
Purple mum (preferably with a rounded shape
Black acrylic craft paint
Chip or foam brush
2 sheets black self-adhesive craft foam
1 sheet green self-adhesive craft foam
1 sheet pink self-adhesive craft foam
2 gold pipe cleaners
(2) 36" wood dowels
Wire hanger
Wire snips
Bypass pruner
Paint a flower pot with 1-2 pots of black paint, and make sure it fully dries.
For the eyes, fold a piece of green craft foam in half, sketch an almond-shaped cat’s eye onto the foam’s backing, then cut out. Tip: Folding the foam in half before cutting creates 2 eyes whose shape mirrors each other. Sketch a heart-shaped cat’s nose onto the pink foam’s backing; cut out.
The ears will be seemingly attached to the top of the mum. To create this look, paint the two dowels black and allow to dry. Optional: To make the dowels easier to insert into the mum's soil, sharpen ends. For the outer ear, fold over black craft foam, sketch a triangular ear shape and cut out. For the ears' centers, fold over pink craft foam and cut out smaller triangles, then remove the paper backing and press the pink foam onto the black.
To create a double-sided tail, first sketch a long curving shape onto one piece of black foam and cut it out, then use this cut-out as a template to create the opposite side. Snip the ends off a wire hanger; cut a section that’s long enough to fit the tail cut-out with a few extra inches that will be used to secure the tail under the planter. Bend the wire into shape so it can be sandwiched between the 2 tail cut-outs. From one side of the tail, removing a bit of the paper backing at a time, press the 2 tail sides together, making sure that the wire end sticks out of what will be the bottom of the cat’s double-sided tail. If necessary, trim the sides of the tail to clean up any overlap.
Remove the paper backing from the pair of green eyes and attach near the top of the planter. Fold pipe cleaners in half; remove the backing from the pink nose and attach both below the eyes, using the nose's adhesive to hold the whiskers in place.
Securely insert dowels into the planter. Hold ears in position and, using a pruner, trim off excess. Remove paper backing from black foam and attach ears to dowels. For maximum longevity, display your completed kitty in either an indoor or sheltered outdoor location.
