GOALLLLLLLLL! If you’ve ever played soccer, you know how exciting, or crushing, that single word can be. If you have never played soccer before, now is your chance!
Our school is forming a Soccer Club, and though (as of writing this) they have not held their first meeting yet, I’m sure it will be a lot of fun!
How did the idea of a soccer club develop? Who was behind it? Why should you join? One of the students behind the Soccer Club being formed is Yassin Gawish, who has a good amount of experience when it comes to the sport. This is an exclusive interview with The Curious Times:
Q: What made you want to push for the soccer club?
A: ​​I felt like the school needed more opportunities for kids that don’t play basketball or volleyball, and want to come and play soccer.
Q: What did you do to get it made?
A: My good friend Sebastian Ponce and I, we went and asked the Assistant Principal if we could start a soccer team. We want this club for the kids in our school to come and play, and sure enough he agreed.
Q: Who wants to participate?
A: I think that kids who couldn’t make the basketball team, will try to join the soccer team for another opportunity at sports.
Q: Who else was behind getting the soccer club made?
A: The people behind this plan were Jayden Rios, Sebastian Ponce and Anthony Capasso.
Q: Why did they want to do it?
A: They wanted to create a soccer team because we felt that it wasn't fair for there to only be a basketball team and a volleyball team. Plus we love playing the sport and watching it on television. It's great having our dreams come true by asking to have it in our school.
Isn’t the power of the student voice astounding! We weren't even going to get a soccer club before it was pitched by these brave students!
