Even though the show came out almost 20 years ago, Avatar: The Last Airbender is still enjoyed by millions of people.
The show takes place in a world where some people are born with the ability to bend and manipulate one of the four elements (air, fire, earth, and water). Other people are non-benders and live as average people. However, there is one person that has the ability to bend all 4 elements-the Avatar. The show stars a young boy, (middle character above) Aang, an airbender and also the Avatar. The other main characters in the photo are:
Katara : the girl on the left dressed in blue-side protagonist (water bender)
Sokka : the boy with the sword on the left of the Katara- also Katara’s brother- side protagonist (non-bender) is a side protagonist

Plot (Simple)
The Avatar, the main protagonist, was long thought to be lost after his kingdom was attacked. But after he reappeared, he is constantly on the run with friends that he meets along the way. The main antagonist is tasked with finding the Avatar to return home as a banished prince. There are multiple adventures where they fight minor villains, and further bond as the time goes on. They meet MORE friends, and not only humans but animals too. They must save the world from the Fire Nation before a certain time, aka a comet.
Detailed Plot
The plot of ATLA starts with Aang waking up after he was trapped in an iceberg for 100 years only to realize he’s the last air nomad and airbender. It is later revealed that he ended up in the iceberg after he ran away from the Southern Air Temple once he discovered he was the avatar. While he was trapped in an iceberg, the fire nation had been at war for 100 years. He wakes up to Katara and Sokka. The rest of the story follows the story that Aang must masterall 4 of the elements in order to defeat Fire Lord Ozai, the ruler of the Fire Nation and the only person that can end the war that his father, Fire Lord Sozin first started. Fire lord Sozin began the war by harnessing power from a comet that gives firebenders extreme power that was later renamed Sozin’s Comet. Along the way, they meet new friends, companions, friends and foes that will make or break their journey for everlasting peace.

Fun facts about ATLA
Most of the pets in ATLA have 4 letter names that have 2 different letters only- EX. Appa and Momo
They have never heard of actual animals. EX. Armadillo bears are considered normal and normal bears are strange
Katara was the character with the most ships by fans and those that were inevitable :) even without fan encouragement and were encouraged by the storyline/plot in general

“That’s hard because all of the characters have cool backstories even if they’re bad guys, but I would probably need to say Ozai. Easy because he’s the main antagonist, but he’s quite manipulative when it comes to seeing him past just being the main bad guy.”
