Advice for the class of 2027

Emma Samanta, Chiara Minerva, and Nadia Tsou

It’s a new year at M.S.158, meaning there's new 6th graders. Coming to a new school can be hard at first, but after some time it will get easier.

As 7th graders, here are a few tips to help you during your first few months in your new school:

  • Prioritize your schoolwork: Many kids don't care about their grades and will have a harder time in school. School is important to our everyday life!

  • Try to make friends, even if you're shy: Sometimes it can be hard to talk to new people, but having friends will make school more fun, and will be helpful for homework.

  • Have empathy for others: It’s important to have empathy for everyone; you don't know what someone is going through, and what you say and do could really affect someone.

  • Have your own opinion: Just because everyone else has their opinion about something doesn’t mean you should too. It’s because of our opinions that make us, us.

Though it may seem hard now, school will get easier. We hope that these tips helped! Good luck!
