The 7th grade Marie Curie chorus and band students had an exciting opportunity to attend a special event at Townsend Harris High School. This outing was a delightful treat for the students, allowing them to experience live performances by high school chorus and band ensemble students from both Townsend Harris and Forest Hills. The students from our school took great care in their appearance for this occasion, proudly wearing their winter concert polo shirts or black shirts, which added a sense of unity and professionalism to the outing.

Lunch:

For lunch, students had the option to either bring their own packed meals from home or choose to select something from the school cafeteria. This flexibility allowed students to enjoy their favorite foods while also catering to those who preferred a school-provided meal. The anticipation of sharing a meal with friends added to the overall excitement of the day.

During The Performance:

Upon arriving at Townsend Harris, the students settled in to watch the Forest Hills orchestra perform. The orchestra showcased their talent with a beautiful rendition featuring violins, captivating the audience with their skill and harmony. Following this impressive performance, the Townsend Harris Jazz Band Ensemble took the stage, directed by the talented Mr. Dunbar. Their lively performance included a variety of jazz standards that had the audience tapping their feet and swaying to the rhythm. A standout moment was when a soloist took the spotlight, skillfully playing the clarinet and demonstrating proficiency on various woodwind instruments, which left a lasting impression on everyone present.

After all the high school performances concluded, it was finally the moment for MS 158 students to shine. Ariana delivered a stunning solo that showcased her vocal abilities, while Kelvin impressed the audience with his jazz band solo, highlighting his musical talent. The atmosphere was filled with pride as they represented their school and shared their passion for music.

Following our performances, another solo vocalist took the stage, further enriching the musical experience of the day. The audience was then treated to a performance by the Forest Hills Orchestra, which featured both cello and violin players. Their music resonated through the auditorium, creating a magical ambiance. In a light-hearted moment, the Forest Hills choir teacher jokingly asked the audience, "Do you want pizza?" to which the enthusiastic response of "yes" echoed back. However, he quickly revealed it was an April Fools' prank, eliciting laughter from the crowd. He continued with his playful banter, joking about the supposed bed bugs at LaGuardia and humorously claiming that Frank Sinatra had no water. This comedic interlude added a fun element to the event, making it even more memorable.

After the laughter, the performances continued, and the Townsend Harris band director opened the floor for questions from the audience. This interactive segment allowed students to engage directly with the performers and learn more about their experiences.
