NFL Week 7

Teams not playing in week 7 (bye week): Dallas Cowboys, & Chicago Bears

By: Timothy Arends

The NFL is at one of the most important parts of the year, when if teams are gonna make the playoffs, they have to start playing their best football now. For example, the Detroit Lions turned it on and DEMOLISHED the Dallas Cowboys 47-9. Despite the blowout win, the Lions lost arguably their best player in Aidan Hutchinson. He broke his tibia, and fibula, but he should make a full recovery despite being out for the season.  Another blowout win, the Chicago Bears CRUSHED the Jacksonville Jaguars 35-16 with rookie QB Caleb Williams leading the way. He threw for 4 TDs and limited his interceptions to only 1. Looking forward to week 7, 2 blockbuster trades have  already happened. For one, Davante Adams was traded to the New York Jets. The Jets got Adams, while the Raiders got a third round pick in return. My opinion: The Jets got the WAY better return in the deal. Even though he is aging, he is still an elite, top-10 WR in the league. He is also getting reunited with his old QB, Aaron Rodgers.  Another blockbuster trade that happened was Amari Cooper & a sixth round pick being traded to the Buffalo Bills. In return, the Cleveland Browns received a 3rd round pick, and a seventh rounder. My opinion: The Browns got the better end of the deal. Cooper is good, but with only 1 year left on his contract and him going to want a ton of money, I don't think the deal was worth it for the Bills. Finally what you all have been waiting for, (I actually am not sure about that) the week 7 matchups. We've got Broncos vs Saints (Thursday Night Football), Jaguars vs Patriots (which will once again be played in London), Lions vs the undefeated Vikings, Titans vs Bills, Dolphins vs Colts, Seahawks vs Falcons, Texans vs Packers, Bengals vs Browns, Eagles vs Giants, Raiders vs Rams, Panthers vs Commanders, Chiefs vs 49ers (the Super Bowl rematch), Jets vs Steelers, (Sunday Night Football) Ravens vs Buccaneers, (Monday Night Football), and finally Chargers vs Cardinals (Monday Night Football). Some key injuries in the NFL are the Bills very own James Cook who missed his last game with a toe injury. They are hoping for him back. Also, the Indianapolis Colts are looking forward to seeing their star running back Jonathan Taylor back on the field. He suffered a high ankle sprain in week 2. Whoś ready for some football?

NHL Week 2

By: Luke Kim

As we enter the second week of the NHL season, we have lots of predictions of who could enter the postseason. Of course it’s way too early to know who's gonna be in the postseason, but here are my predictions anyway. Atlantic Division: Florida Panthers, Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Tampa Bay Lighting. Metro Division: New York Rangers, New York Islanders,Carolina Hurricanes, and the Washington Capitals. Central Division: Dallas Stars, Winnipeg Jets, Colorado Avalanche, and the Los Angeles Kings. Pacific Division: Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers, Vegas Golden Knights, and the Nashville Predators. Those are just my opinions and some information I've gathered from verified sources such as ESPN, SportsNet etc. Now from the New York Rangers, let's give it up for Rangers long lasting legend, SAM ROSEN!! He’s been the Rangers reporter for more than 40 years! This is the last year he will be reporting for the Rangers as he wants to focus on his family and friends. Now let's get to some hockey. Here was a very interesting game involving the Minnesota Wild and the Winnipeg Jets. With 2.9 seconds left remaining in the first period the Jets would do a risky play involving taking the goalie out of the net leading the net exposed but being able to get an extra skater on the ice due to the goalie being out. They ended up scoring with 7/10 of a second left. The stadium went wild as this is a play almost never seen in a hockey game. Remember how in my last post I mentioned the New York Rangers vs the Utah Hockey Club? Well in a roller coaster of a ride, Utah was victorious against the Rangers as the captain of the Utah Hockey Club Clayton Keller scored the overtime goal. Also another game, the Dallas  Stars against the Seattle Krakens, the Stars are now with their 1st season shutout!

MLB Playoffs Mets And Yankees

By: Charlie Cronin

Lets Go Mets and Lets Go Yankees!!! The ¨Miracle Mets¨ went from 0-5 to OMG, as Jose Igelias (the Mets second baseman) made a hit song over the regular season which some think to believe that it was this seasons Mets good luck charm. With their victory in game 5, the Mets are on the brink of being eliminated, Sunday night they need to win in order to force game 7.

The Yankees have beaten the Cleveland Guardians 4-1. They have punched their ticket to the World Series and are awaiting either the Los Angeles Dodgers or New York Mets.

Juan Soto, hit a Go-Ahead and eventual game winning three-run home run in the top of the 10th inning. The dinger gave the Yankees a 5-2 lead and they closed out the bottom of the 10th to capture their first appearance in the World Series in 15 years. Currently the Yankees have the most odds of winning the World Series with Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Staton and Juan Soto leading the way with homeruns LGY!

The Mets are probably the team literally no one thought would get this far. I mean, they are the team who were 22-33! Thatś 11 games under .500! But then when Jose Iglesias released his hit song/Grimace threw-out the first pitch, the Mets fortunes changed. Instead of losing games, they were winning! At one point they went on a 9 game winning streak! That's insane! Right now the Mets are trailing in the NLCS 3-2. Still plenty of baseball left to be played! Keep your eyes on the Mets as they are only a few games from the World Series, or a few games away from getting eliminated. Also, the Mets have just played, and the Mets had themselves beaten by the Dodgers in 8-0. For the Dodgers, the best player for them was Max Muncy  with 2 home runs, 2 runs, and 3 base on balls on 10/17/24. He set a franchise playoff record for 13 home runs in his Dodgers postseason career. And for the Mets they had no runs, but in some people´s opinion they say J. D. Martinez did the best for the Mets. The Mets need to start playing harder than ever! Keep in touch with the series to see who comes out on top! LGM!
