Thanksgiving is a popular holiday that almost 90% of Americans celebrate to show things they are grateful for. However, many people debate on the best Thanksgiving side dishes. #10 - Traditional Salad



22% of households serve traditional dinner salads during Thanksgiving. FUN FACT: a recent survey showed that the average American eats 4 salads weekly 


#9 - Macaroni and Cheese



More commonly known as mac and cheese, about 28% of households serve Mac-and-Cheese on Thanksgiving. FUN FACT: Kraft Mac and Cheese sells more than one million boxes of their Mac & Cheese everyday.



#8 - Roasted Vegetables



32% of people serve roasted vegetables as a side dish on thanksgiving. FUN FACT: Only about 10% of American Adults met the recommended amount of vegetables daily


#7 - Sweet Potato Casserole



Just barely edging out roasted vegetables, Sweet Potato Casseroles are served on 33% of dinner tables. FUN FACT: 50 million pounds of sweet potatoes are sold for Thanksgiving



#6 - Green Bean Casserole

About 40% of households serve Green Bean Casserole on thanksgiving. FUN FACT: Green Bean Casseroles are served at 20 million Thanksgiving dinners every year.


#5 - Cranberry Sauce

We’re halfway through the foods, and Cranberry Sauce is on about half of dinner plates during Thanksgiving, coming in at 51%. FUN FACT: 80 million pounds of cranberries are sold the week of Thanksgiving. Year-round, that's about 400 million pounds!


#4 - Gravy

About 70% of households eat gravy during thanksgiving. FUN FACT: 1 can of gravy has 1,264 grams of sodium. That’s close to half the recommended amount per day!


#3 - Dinner Rolls

On only 1% more tables on Thanksgiving than Gravy, Dinner Rolls otherwise known as bread, are served on 71% of dinner tables on thanksgiving. FUN FACT: The average American eats almost 53 pounds of bread annually. 


#2- Stuffing

Almost at the end, stuffing is served on 76% of plates during thanksgiving. FUN FACT: Stuffing’s main ingredients are bread, salt, and butter, which means it isn’t the healthiest thing to eat on thanksgiving.

Finally, we’ve reached the number 1 most popular side dish on Thanksgiving. It's not surprising that it is mashed potatoes considering that over 250 million pounds of potatoes are sold on only Thanksgiving (FUN FACT)
