In the past, Marie Curie held many Girl Scout troops. However, there are currently two troops at the school.

The troop that Chiara and I are currently in (4564) consists of 8th graders, most of whom attend this school, but some go to other schools. The other troop consists of 7th graders. Both of these troops have known each other since kindergarten, and have been together since then.

To open every meeting, the Girl Scouts recite this promise:

The Girl Scout Promise:

On my honor, I will try:

To serve God* and my country,

To help people at all times,

And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

After the promise, we recite the law:

The Girl Scout Law:

I will do my best to be

honest and fair,

friendly and helpful,

considerate and caring,

courageous and strong,

and responsible for what I say and do,

and to respect myself and others,

respect authority,

use resources wisely,

and be a sister to every Girl Scout.

Most know the Girl Scouts from their signature cookies! Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs are some of our most popular flavors. However, this is not the goal of the Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts try to learn new skills, understand the world around them, and make a difference. There are many ways we do this. One way is by earning badges.

To earn badges, Girl Scouts have a series of tasks given to them in order for them to truly learn from their experiences and understand the badge they are earning. Sometimes we do activities after school in order to fulfill the requirements of the badge, but other times we find ways to weave in fun trips! In fact, for our most recent badge, the Night Owl badge, one of the requirements was to hang out at night, and we did this by sleeping over in an aquarium!

A lot of people (maybe you, but who knows) had brought Girl Scout cookies from the snack sale we had on March 6th. If you did, thanks! We sold 170 boxes!  That's $1190 in total sales! We get $1.20 back for each box, plus an additional $0.10 per box because we opted out of rewards. The rewards are small things we get individually for selling boxes of cookies, and it’s themed every year. We also get badges every year from cookie selling! So that's a total of $221 we earned from this sale alone!!

There are many different levels in the Girl Scouts depending on your age. Each new level, you get a new vest or stash (voted by the group), and there are different colors for each level.
