The Disappearance

“ZEUS!” Poseidon roared in rage, his trident sparking with energy, his blue eyes sparkling with fresh anger as he glared at his brother. Zeus glanced at Poseidon, casually gliding into his underwater palace.

“You know it’s against the sacred oath of the Gods to come here uninvited!” Poseidon hissed, summoning his pet shark with a flick of his tail.

“Oh my dear brother.. You must know why I’m here.. After all.. You're the  one who took it..” Zeus hissed, but there was something odd about it that Poseidon couldn’t place. His brother looked empty somehow, bland even. Poseidon urged his shark away, the spark dying from his eyes. Suddenly the realization of what was missing hit him like a huge crashing tsunami.

“Your powers?” He whispered, his trident clattering on his throne. Zeus cleared his throat, looking embarrassed, but kept his cool, typical.

“How’d you guess?” He muttered. Poseidon shrugged, clearly dumbfounded.

“I don’t know, you just looked… empty,” Poseidon stated.

“Well.. yes, I did lose my powers, which I never knew could happen” Zeus continued.

“When I returned from our meeting yesterday, I started to feel unusually unusuatired, and my usual mortal form began to fade and show signs of my real godly form,” Poseidon’s brother sighed, his anger evaporating for a millisecond. Poseidon couldn’t care less, asking a much more serious question.

“Why come to me then, brother? Go to Hera, your children, even Hades for all I care!” Poseidon rumbled. Zeus glared at Poseidon, even without his powers, looking as commanding as ever.

“Because I know you're the one who took my powers. After yesterday’s meeting, you were STILL annoyed with me for accusing your child, What's-His-Name, of stealing my wine! So as revenge, you take my powers!” Zeus crossed his arms in triumph, apparently extremely impressed with himself. Poseidon, on the other hand, visibly boiled with rage, a small cyclone of water spinning in his palm.

“First accusing my son of taking a chazos bottle of WINE, now accusing me of taking your powers in my own palace? Get out brother,” Poseidon boomed, his voice echoing throughout the palace. His brother’s eyes gleamed with feral anger and he straightened himself

“Fine, but remember god of the seas, I will be back,”  Zeus glided out the doors, leaving a trail of bubbles and uneasiness in the palace.
