Get a study buddy that you know will not distract you. -Friends act as a very good resource because they can help you with review sheets, understanding material, or even just being like an emotional support bestie!
Look out for review sheets that teachers post.
-Usually when teachers post review’s they make it themselves and try to be as close to the test as possible. As said by many of my teachers, the review sheet is basically the same thing as the test but in different words. (Note: Not all teachers might be like this)
Don't put too little pressure on yourself, but also don't stress yourself out!
-Some studies have shown that fear is a good motivation to get work done! It makes you think, will I have to repeat this year, am I going to be a failure, will I not have a good academic life at the end of the year? But… DO NOT put too much pressure because that could lead to panic attacks and just hurt your mental health sometimes!!!
Ask teachers if they grade homework off of completion or accuracy.
-This is a problem most students face, they spend so much time on one of these worksheets and the teachers just put a check meanwhile your graded one is not completed and you end up getting a 0 on the grade that actually matters. After writing this, I am realizing how teachers might go after me for saying that soooo… I just wanted to let all school staff/viewers/readers/fellow peers know that I am not saying that if a homework assignment is graded off of completion not to put effort into it. I just mean that I don't put as much pressure/worries on it.
Now let's talk about those “study breaks”.
-I know most of you (including me) take a nice short break, until you see this awesome interesting video that you seem to not be able to turn off. If you feel like you're in a roll I recommend watching a short video that is interesting but not addicting.
What shows/videos you should watch when wanting to feel productive.
-In my opinion, the best things that really helped me bring up my grades were the youtube channels “study to success” and “Sheena Kim”! (These youtube channels help you a lot with all middle school grades but I highly recommend it to 8th graders because they talk about stuff you should do in high-school+college.) They teach you about the do’s and the don'ts.
