The 2026 FIFA World Cup is just around the corner, only three months away. This tournament will feature an expanded 48-team format and will be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Here are some more facts about what is set to become the biggest World Cup in history.
The competition will be played across 16 host cities, stretching from Los Angeles in the west to New York/New Jersey in the east, offering fans a uniquely large geographical spread all around North America. For the first time, the World Cup will use the new group-stage structure, with teams competing in 12 groups of four, increasing the number of matches and giving more nations a chance to make an impact on the global stage.
Several nations will enter the 2026 world cup and draw attention to watching, here’s a breakdown of some key teams to watch during the World Cup.
Spain is arguably among the top favorites thanks to their advantage with a young talented core, this includes Lamine Yamal and Gavi who can change the game and tailor it to their liking. Their team also includes a strong lineup, having strong defenders, a good offensive attack and an untouchable midfield.
France are like a threat to teams having a tactical flexibility to win the game. They also have been very consistent in their past tournaments like the 2018 and 2022 World Cup.
Argentina is one of the most watched teams and are defending champions. They won three world cup titles and 16 Copa America titles. They have a great lineup consisting of greats like Messi, Julián Alvarez, Enzo Fernández and Alexis Mac Allister. This will sadly be Messi's last word cup as well.
England is a team with many start players that make the team a great lineup with great offense, defence and midfield. They also had a record of winning 8 matches in a row when qualifying without letting in ONE goal! They have core players such as Harry Kane and Jude Belligham, along with Cole Palmer, Declan Rice and Phill Foden.
Brazil qualified fifth place in the COLOMBON world cup qualifiers. Their attack consists of the talented VIni Jr, Rahphinia and Rodyigo. They have a great defense like Elder Milatio as well. Even though Neymar won’t be playing in this World Cup, they need to keep hope in order to win.
Portugal secured their spot in the 2026, finishing first in their group. This will be the last word cup for Ronaldo as well. The team is filled with great players like Ruben Diaz, Ronaldo, vitinia, buno fernades, Pedro neto and jao feilex.
Germany: Has one four world cup titles and has great players from top teams such as Joshua Kimmick, Jamal Musiala and much more. They also have iconic moments like the time where they won 7-1 to Brazil in the 2014 World Cup.
USA I don't need to explain this, SUPPORT YOUR NATION, YOUR TEAM!! (I'm from a diff country so I support another team. No pressure of course!)
