The New York Mets have been absolutely ALIVE this offseason. Their 2025 starting 9 is almost unidentifiable if you compare it to this year's starting nine. 2025's starting 9 consisted of:
SS: Francisco Lindor
RF: Juan Soto
1B: Pete Alonso
3B: Mark Vientos
LF: Brandon Nimmo
DH: Starling Marte
C: Luis Torrens
2B: Brett Baty
CF: Jose Siri

This was the Mets usual lineup, as they were used to most people on this roster for many years. The Mets had very high expectations that season, as they at one point held the best record in the MLB. However, they fell short of the playoffs and were getting taunted and taking heat left and right. David Stearns, the Mets GM (in charge of the financial moves), took a lot of heat, because the Mets had the 3rd highest payroll and did not even make the playoffs. He kept taking heat in the offseason, as he let Pete Alonso, the fan favorite and franchise record holder for most home runs in a Mets uniform, go. Additionally, he went to the Baltimore Orioles on a 5 year, $155 million dollar deal. He then traded another fan favorite in outfielder Brandon Nimmo to the Texas Rangers in exchange IF Marcus Semien. This trade at the moment made no sense, as the Mets had an abundance of infielders but very few outfielders. However, Stearns had plans. One thing did not go to plan though, as star closer and another fan favorite Edwin Diaz went to the Dodgers. The Mets only offered 3M dollars less, but missed out on him. Stearns moves all started here. He replaced his closer with a pretty solid new one in Devin Williams. Then another Yankees player crossed town to join the Mets in Luke Weaver, to fortify the bullpen. From there, he went for the replacement 1st basemen in Jorge Polanco, even though he is a natural 2nd basemen. He then traded Jeff McNeil to the Athletics for a young prospect and to shed cap space. From there, we went nuclear, signing Bo Bichette to a 3 year, $126 million deal. Then they traded for their new OF Luis Robert Jr. from the White Sox, and then traded for new ace Freddy Peralta. Hopefully the Mets can redeem themselves and make the playoffs and beyond this year! New Mets projected lineup:
SS: Francisco Lindor
RF: Juan Soto
3B: Bo Bichette
1B: Jorge Polanco
CF: Luis Robert Jr. (or Tyrone Taylor/Carson Benge)
2B: Marcus Semien
C: Francisco Alvarez
DH: Brett Baty
LF: Carson Benge
