Marie Curie’s Musical

Many students may have heard of the incredible opportunity our school is excited to begin, performing a school musical. Teachers Ms. Allen and Ms. Navre will lead our school in this wonderful display of creativity. There is a lot of involvement from a teachers perspective that many may not know. Ms. Allen was very generous with her time to be interviewed about the chance to perform the musical.

One question that she was asked "How did Marie Curie 158Q get awarded with such an offer from Schubert? How many schools applied for this opportunity? In my opinion there must have been many schools applying for this exciting experience." Ms. Allen responded by saying “Ms. Navre and I submitted an application where we told the organization about our schools qualifications. We also told them about our school and why having a musical would be important and beneficial to our school community. After reading the application, they asked Mr. McHugh, Ms. Navre, and I to do an interview so they can learn more about our us and learn more about our school. After the interview, we received the grant.” This is an example of the hard work and dedication our teachers put in, so that students can have this exciting experience at the middle school level. I'm not sure if everyone knows this but grants are not just given to schools. The people who give out grants have to review other applications from many schools. Our teachers must have represented our school so well for Marie Curie to win this grant.

The second asked question was what whether there will be vacancies/job where students can volunteer to be in this musical? With that she responded with “ Students can get involved in the musical by performing or by being part of the stage crew. If you like to sing, dance, or act (or if you want to try any of these things for the first time) this would be a great opportunity for you! The stage crew will be responsible for moving sets, controlling the lights, and controlling the sound system.” She was asked one final question. "What are the mandates to be in the musical?" To which she replied “As far as vaccination status, performers must be fully vaccinated by January 15th.”

This was not an asked question, but Ms. Allen also told us what the first musical production will be! She said it would be Shrek! If you are a middle school student, we grew up watching Shrek, so it is very cool to put on a musical about one of our favorite movies.

Lets get excited for what is to come, information about how to be a part of the musical is starting very soon. (inside scoop...January 15 2021 to be exact.) The link to sign up for more information about the Marie Curie Musical is below.
